Caring For Your Jessie Harris Jewellery

Jessie Harris uses Sterling Silver and 18ct Yellow and Rose Gold Plated Silver throughout all the collections unless otherwise stated.

Rose & Yellow Gold Plated Jewellery

All Jessie Harris gold pieces are plated using 18 carat yellow or rose gold for unless specified otherwise using the process of electroplating.  This is a means of     coating one metal with another by passing an electrical current through the piece.

Gold plated jewellery will wear off over time, however you can ensure that it lasts as long as possible taking extra care when wearing, storing and cleaning.

Please take care when handling gold plated jewellery to protect the layer of gold from excess wear and scratching. Although gold-plated jewellery will not tarnish over time like silver, the gold appearance may slightly fade depending on wear and exposure to chemicals and cosmetics.

Avoid wearing gold plated jewellery whilst showering, bathing or swimming. Chlorine, in particular can permanently damage or discolour your gold plated jewellery.

It is advisable to remove all jewellery when partaking in any physical or labour intensive activities. For this same reason, it is also advisable not to wear jewellery when asleep at night.

Always remove your gold plated jewellery when applying perfume and cosmetics.  When removed please make sure to keep all jewellery in separate pouches or boxes to prevent pieces rubbing and scratching against one another.

Sterling Silver Jewellery

All Jessie Harris silver pieces are hand crafted using 925 Sterling Silver

Store your silver jewellery in a clean, dry place away from direct sun exposure.

Please avoid storing your jewellery in damp and hot conditions as this can cause silver in particular to discolour and tarnish. Storing silver jewellery in individual, air-tight plastic bags can help reduce or prevent the effects of this.

Skin and hair products such as body lotions, perfumes and creams can react adversely with jewellery causing precious metals to tarnish and/or erode. It is advisable to apply any cosmetic products in advance of putting on jewellery.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

When cleaning, very gently wipe your gold plated jewellery with a soft polishing cloth. Do not scrub or rub as this can prematurely wear away the layer of gold.

Silver jewellery can be cleaned in warm soapy water.  Please ensure that it is rinsed thoroughly and dried before storing to avoid it tarnishing. Alternatively you can polish your silver jewellery with a soft polishing cloth.

Make sure to regularly check your jewellery for signs of dirt, wear and tear.

Make sure to avoid using any kind of abrasive cleaner on jewellery.

After each wear, it is recommended to wipe jewellery clean with a soft, dry, lint-free polishing cloth to remove any make-up or natural skin oils.
